Inaash is an NGO founded in 1969 by a group of Lebanese and Palestinian women who foresaw the need to preserve the rich heritage of Palestinian embroidery while providing financial support for Palestinian refugee women in camps across Lebanon.
Since its inception 50 years ago, over 2,000 women benefited from their work with Inaash, both in monetary terms and through a sense of community and cultural continuity. Successive generations have passed their embroidery skills from mother to daughter. Their work with Inaash and the ancillary services it provides have had a positive impact not just on the women but also on their families.
Today, over 400 women in five camps are engaged in embroidering Inaash’s high-end products, which include abayas, shawls, jackets, clutch bags, cushions, and fashion and accessory items. Together Inaash and its embroiderers have established a reputation for exquisite artisanal collectibles.
As well as creating its own designs based on its extensive archive of authentic Palestinian motifs and patterns, the Inaash team works in collaboration with local and international artists and designers to complement its own innovative range. These products are exhibited locally and internationally throughout the Gulf (Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, KSA), in Europe (including London and Paris) and in the United States.
